When 110v electricity was delivered to a mouse for 0.03 seconds per 3 seconds for one minute, its stress level was highly increased according to an outburst of cortisol, stress hormone. After then, the vaporized essential oils from four kinds of trees (Pine, Big cone pine, Hinoki cypress, Sawara Cypress) were each exposed to the mouse. As a result, the level of cortisol in the blood has decreased. Especially, the phytoncide extracted from Hinoki cypress reduced the cortisol concentration at least than 50%, proving excellent effect on decreasing stress.

Comparing the size of annulus describing the range of sterilization, after applying various types of chemicals and Hinoki cypress oil in culture medium, showed the sterilizing power. After 24 hours, phytoncide extracted from Hinoki cypress tree showed the most powerful sterilization compared to other chemicals

Trimethylamine of initial concentration at 500ppm, an alkaline toxic gas emitting stench, was injected to a tedlar bag of 10L. Then, 5ml of phytoncide is injected inside to measure the change in concentration of trimethylamine gas and deodorization rate. As time progressed, the deodorization rate steadily increased.

Micro-encapsulated phytoncide extracted from Hinoki cypress oil is embedded in the fiber, in order to test the antibacterial function, skin reaction, deodorization, prevention of dust mites.
Phytoncide antibiosis fiber was washed 10 times and was inoculated with staphylococcus. The sterilized rate of bacteria was nearly 100%.

In order to check skin troubles, 1.5cm X 1.5cm size of phytoncide antibiosis fiber was attached to 20 healthy adults’ skin for 24 hrs. Then, the skin condition was checked, showing antibiosis fiber was safe for skin.
The reduction rate of ammonia odor, after putting 10X10cm size of phytoncide antibiosis fiber in the 500ml size of container filled with ammonia gas(NH3), was 84% after 30min, 84% after 2hrs, showing great deodorization effect.

Among the dust mite, dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and dermatophagoides farina, which are widely distributed in the nation, were used to test how much they avoid phytoncide antibiosis fiber. Through three different methods- invade prevention, spread prevention, and test tube- the experiment was conducted. After 24hrs, the result showed that 85%-90% of mites avoided the fiber applied with micro-encapsulated phytoncide.

Phytoncide is a great restraint for ‘MRSA’ or ‘Staphylococcus Aureus’ and is an excellent treatment for ‘Legionella’ and ‘Candida’
House dust mites, the main cause of atopy, asthma, and many allergic diseases, were exposed to phytoncide to observe their movements. Before exposed to phytoncide, house dust mites were active. After exposed to phytoncide for 30min, their movements slowed down. After 24hr, there was no movement. The result shows mites exposed to phytoncide for considerable amount of time will be eliminated.
Varying amount of phytoncide was injected to six bowls of cooked rice. After a week passed, the conditions of rice were strikingly different. Rice bowls with small or no amount of phytoncide injected were covered with mold, whereas rice bowl with the greatest amount of phytoncide was relatively in good condition
A test was conducted to prove the toxicity of phytoncide extracted from cypress tree in the country. General test standard is 2g/1kg (inserting 2g substance per 1kg). However, this test applied stricter standards, by measuring LD50 (Letha dose 50%: weight of substance killing 50% of experimental animals). Oral administration was set to the maximum level of toxicity test, 5g/1kg (inserting 5g substance per 1kg. As a result, there was no toxic found.
Anti-virus effect was proven by eliminating 99% of CCV(Dong Corona Virus) and TGE(Pig Corona Virus) virus in the concentration of 5% Hinoki cypress oil. Also, 99% of bird flu virus was eliminated in the concentration of 8% Hinoki cypress oil.
